INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Murang’a County Government Internship Program is a government youth initiative aimed at equipping recent graduates with practical experience and skills to enhance their employability, networking, and entrepreneurial abilities. The program seeks to recruit competent and qualified individuals to fill the following internship positions within the Youth Polytechnic Instructors category:
Youth Polytechnic Instructor Interns – 7 Positions
1. Plumbing Instructor (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Train and guide students in plumbing techniques, including pipe installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to different student levels.
- Conduct practical training sessions to equip students with hands-on plumbing skills.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and provide feedback to enhance learning.
- Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment for practical activities.
2. Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy Instructor (3 Positions)
Job Description:
- Provide theoretical and practical training in hairdressing, skincare, and beauty techniques.
- Instruct students on modern styling, grooming, and beauty care methods.
- Develop lesson plans and deliver engaging classroom and hands-on training sessions.
- Evaluate and assess student progress regularly to ensure skill development.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards during practical lessons.
3. Electrical Wiring Instructor (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Deliver theoretical and practical instruction in electrical wiring, safety practices, and electrical installations.
- Demonstrate and supervise hands-on electrical wiring tasks in a controlled workshop setting.
- Prepare training materials and lesson plans to align with student skill levels.
- Assess and evaluate student proficiency in electrical wiring techniques.
- Maintain and monitor workshop tools and equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
Requirements for Appointment
To qualify for the Youth Polytechnic Instructor internship positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold a Diploma or Craft Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Electrical and Electronics, Automotive Technology, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Plumbing, Painting, or Tiling from a recognized institution.
- Have a KCSE grade of D Plain or above.
- Possess a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
- Those with a Diploma in Technical Education or an Instructor Training Certificate from KTTC will have an added advantage.
Program Objectives
The Murang’a County Government Internship Program 2025 seeks to:
- Provide young adults with hands-on skills applicable to future employment opportunities.
- Offer real workplace experience to enhance career development.
- Enable interns to build a professional network.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen aged 45 years or below.
- Be an unemployed graduate from a recognized institution who completed their diploma or certificate course within the last 24 months.
- Have not previously benefited from a similar internship program or gained work experience in their area of study since graduation.
- Must not have exited formal employment.
Terms of Service
- The internship will run for a duration of 12 months.
- The program does not guarantee employment upon completion.
- Successful candidates are expected to fully engage in the program to benefit from its objectives.
