About the Team

The Data Engineering and Business Intelligence (BI) team plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. By building and maintaining robust data pipelines, interactive dashboards, and insightful reporting tools, the team supports strategic and operational functions throughout the organization. The team collaborates closely with various internal stakeholders including IT, Information Security, Product Managers, and Project Teams to ensure accurate and accessible data solutions.

Role Purpose

The Data Engineer Intern will support the data team by contributing to projects that involve data pipeline development, reporting, and BI tools under the guidance of senior engineers. This internship offers a rich learning environment designed to equip the intern with practical experience in modern data technologies and tools. The intern will also gain insight into how data is utilized to create meaningful impact across multiple countries and programs.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer Intern, you will:

  • Support BI Development
    Assist in building and testing data pipelines and reports with supervision from senior engineers.
  • Learn and Apply Tools
    Gain practical experience with Microsoft BI tools, including Fabric, Power BI, and SQL Server.
  • Data Quality Support
    Help monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and support cleansing processes as needed.
  • Documentation
    Contribute to documentation of workflows, data definitions, and processes.
  • Stakeholder Support
    Assist in gathering basic user requirements and maintain communication with internal data users.
  • Team Collaboration
    Participate in regular team meetings, contribute to discussions, and share updates on your progress.
  • Skill Development
    Demonstrate initiative in learning about data engineering tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Essential Skills

  • Eagerness to learn new tools, methods, and technologies
  • Solid communication and problem-solving abilities

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
  • Coursework or academic projects involving data visualization, databases, or cloud computing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services like Data Factory or Synapse, or any other cloud platform

Education and Qualifications

  • Essential:
    Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology , or a closely related field.
