The National Taxpayers Association (NTA) is an independent, non-partisan organization committed to promoting good governance in Kenya. Since 2006, NTA has worked to enhance public accountability by monitoring public service delivery and the management of devolved funds. Through social accountability tools like Citizen Report Cards, civic awareness campaigns, and partnerships with key stakeholders, NTA ensures that taxpayers’ voices are heard.
As part of its mission, NTA offers an internship program designed to provide young professionals with hands-on experience in its strategic program areas. The organization is currently seeking qualified candidates for a three-month Communication Internship position, with the possibility of an extension.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Communication Intern, you will work closely with the communication team and contribute to the following areas:
- Brand Identity & Content Creation: Assist in developing communication products such as reports, publications, digital media, flyers, and posters to enhance NTA’s brand identity.
- Social Media Management: Develop, execute, and report on social media engagement plans across platforms like Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and email.
- Creative Design & Content Strategy: Create concepts and ideas to visually communicate project goals while ensuring content and design align with NTA’s house style and brand identity.
- Internal Communications: Engage in internal communication activities to enhance organizational messaging and awareness.
- Institutional Development Support: Contribute to NTA’s institutional communication efforts using various tools and techniques such as media pitching, website content management, and promotional materials.
- Analytics & Optimization: Monitor and analyze social engagement data, optimize ad performance, and enhance audience reach across all platforms.
- Campaign Development: Assist in developing and managing online fundraising and policy influence campaigns.
Who Should Apply?
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field.
- Basic experience or knowledge in using social media platforms for professional engagement.
- Familiarity with social media design tools.
- Understanding of how social media contributes to policy change campaigns.
- A passion for learning, self-motivation, and the ability to take initiative in projects.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
- Strong ethics and ability to manage confidential data.
- Good time management, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Internship Terms & Conditions:
- The intern will work three days per week under the supervision of a staff member from the Communications Department.
- Applicants must have a functional laptop.
- This is an unpaid internship ; however, NTA will facilitate costs directly related to the assigned work.
