Introduction
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency responsible for promoting socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. It aims to provide adequate shelter for all and enhance urban living conditions worldwide.
UN-Habitat’s Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit, located within the Office of the Executive Director, plays a vital role in coordinating the organization’s strategic and operational efforts on resource mobilization. The unit supports fundraising efforts, donor relations, and financial planning while ensuring transparency in donor contributions.
The Donor Information Platform (DIP) is a key initiative within the unit that leverages digital tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint to streamline donor data management, enhance collaboration, and support informed decision-making.
To strengthen these efforts, UN-Habitat is seeking an Intern – Data Analyst and Information Management to support donor data management, conduct analysis, improve data processes, and contribute to the development of an organized donor information archiving system.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge (OiC) of the Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit, the intern will:

Database Management & Donor Information Processing
- Regularly update databases supporting the Donor Information Platform (DIP), ensuring accuracy and seamless integration of new data from multiple sources.
- Clean and structure organizational data related to grants and projects to facilitate smooth integration into data management tools.

Data Analysis & Insights Generation
- Conduct analytical reviews of donor information to identify patterns, trends, and areas for strategic engagement.
- Generate reports and presentations to support fundraising and donor relations strategies.

Process Automation & Workflow Enhancement
- Develop automated workflows for repetitive tasks using Power Automate or Python scripting.
- Streamline data extraction, analysis, and document generation processes for the team and organization.

Data Visualization & Dashboard Development
- Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards that present advanced data analysis and impactful visualizations.
- Ensure dashboards support organizational decision-making needs and enhance donor relations.

Archiving & Documentation
- Support the design and maintenance of an organized archiving system for donor information and correspondence.
- Ensure easy accessibility and retrieval of critical donor data for internal stakeholders.

General Support & Other Duties
- Provide additional technical and administrative support as required by the Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit.
- Participate in meetings, document discussions, and contribute ideas on improving donor engagement strategies.
Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school program (Master’s degree or higher).
- Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree.
Additionally, candidates should:
- Have experience in acquiring, validating, cleaning, transforming, and comparing quantitative and qualitative data from different sources.
- Have experience in designing and implementing interactive data visualization solutions (Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools).
- Have knowledge of process automation tools (Python, Power Automate, etc.).
- Demonstrate strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Show a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its values.
- Be capable of working effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
